Understanding Exposure - by Bryan Peterson

Bryan Peterson has written one of the best books ever on understanding exposure - simply titled "Understanding Exposure".  He starts from the beginning and explains it all - shutter speeds, apature, depth of field, and how they all relate to making great photos.  He includes lots of examples and exercises that help you understand what he is discussing.  If you are new to photography, I HIGHLY recommend reading this one you won't be disappointed.

Learning To See Creatively - by Bryan Peterson

This book was recommended to me by another photographer and I must say it has been an inspiration for many photos.  I recommend this book to everyone that asks me about photography and how to make better pictures.  Bryan covers some things about how to set exposure but for the most part this book is learning about seeing.  He covers everything from taking pictures in junk yards to making common photos more interesting and provocative.  My "Dare To Be Different" photo of the M&Ms is a result of reading this book.  I was looking for a way to incorporate color and patterns into a photo and it just happened.  My "Strawberries in the Rain" photo is my attempt at a photo that he discusses in both this book and a couple of others.  Read this book it will open your mind and eyes to photos opportunities that you have been overlooking.
